Some East Coast ships also head to Bermuda, New England and Canada. On the West Coast, sailings to Mexico, Hawaii and Alaska are the norm. For the most part, Carnival ships sail relatively short voyages of three to eight nights. However, with two exceptions, they're not giants by today's standards.
Spa & Fitness
Fitness classes included daily stretch, abs blast, and body conditioning—all at no charge—plus yoga, Pilates and spinning, priced $12 each ($30 for three sessions). A jogging track circuited Deck 11, but covered less than half the ship’s length. There was also a shuffleboard court here, loungers and an outdoor shower. The menu featured espresso (single $1.95, double $2.25) along with cappuccino, moccacino, caffé latte, chai tea latte and hot chocolate (tall $2.95, grande $3.50).

Watch movies, shows and sporting events at the huge 270-square-foot LED screen outdoors for a unique family night. Try your luck at the casino with roulette, blackjack and more. Dance the night away at the disco or enjoy a first-run-in-cabin movie as you relax in the privacy of your stateroom. Meanwhile, for passengers hoping for quiet time away from the kids, many Carnival ships also have an adults-only Serenity retreat area on their top decks with padded loungers, daybeds, hot tubs and often a bar. In addition to entertainment spaces, the interiors of Carnival ships are loaded with other venues where passengers can kick back and let loose day and night, including a wide range of bars, lounges and nightspots.

Okay, so it’s actually way more than just a pond — it’s Camp Ocean. At Camp Ocean, 2–11 year-olds stay busy, keep active and have fun as they enjoy all new ocean-themed activities and entertainment made for kids. We put campers into supervised, age-based groups and give each a cool marine-life label that’s sure to raise the sails on camaraderie at sea.

The restaurant also serves fries, sliders, breakfast, siders, salads, strips, chicken-and-egg biscuits, kids meals. Most onboard activities such as shows and deck-top attractions are included in the fare. The self-described "fun ship" line is the king of short, affordable, fun-focused cruises from U.S. ports to the Caribbean, Bahamas, Mexico and other nearby destinations. No matter where you live in the U.S., you're probably within a few hours of a Carnival ship.
Ship Overview
We found service and staff interactions consistently upbeat and friendly on Carnival Victory. The staff seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs and didn’t break a sweat when keeping us happy. Other events that took place here included singles gatherings, karaoke, church services and shopping lectures. The Photo Gallery also sold cameras (primarily Olympus), underwater cameras, disposable Fujifilm cameras, media cards, frames and photo albums. The pastry case was stocked with regal looking confections such as Swedish apple cake, apple strudel and humongous slices of carrot and chocolate cake; individual servings were $2.25. Whole cakes with inscriptions were available to order, serving 6 to 10 ($7.95-$9.95).
With more space for stretching out indoors, plus a large balcony for kicking back outdoors. Choose an Ocean Suite to experience private, luxurious relaxation, including walk-in closet and bathroom with tub. While the kids are at Camp Carnival and the teens are enjoying their dedicated areas, Circle C and Club 02, head to the peaceful adults-only Serenity for a tranquil delightful experience.
On Dec. 13, the Carnival Radiance makes her Southern California debut, kicking off a year-round schedule of three- and four-day cruises to Baja Mexico from the Long Beach Cruise Terminal. Carnival’s delightful kids’ program, inspired by the books of Dr. Seuss, presents so many fun things to see and do. There’s a character parade, Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast, arts and crafts activities, story times and more. Taking the time to relax and unwind is an essential element of any cruise vacation, and there’s no better place to do just that than Cloud 9 Spa. The facility was busy any time we were at sea (the casino was closed while in port), with slot machines staying open as late as 4 a.m. There were 187 slots covering the gamut of traditional games, and video poker was also available.
Then grab a friend or three and get ready to kick back and enjoy. ” is a question you’ll never have to ask at a dining room dinner aboard a Carnival cruise… we set the table for you. We also bring to the table a full three courses in an experience that’s filling, but never stuffy — after all, you’re just as likely to catch waiters table-dancing as you are to order dessert. Dessert’s included (along with the rest of your meal, by the way) in your fare.
In the Library, our first dish was called Tomato Our Way and included a chardonnay poached grape tomato, a pudding of aerated tomato juice and—surprise! —a bizarre white chocolate-coated tomato that just didn’t cut it for us. This was tasty, and by now we were starting to understand the thought behind the meal—Carnival’s overriding allegiance to fun permeated the Chef’s Table. A medical center was located on Deck 0 and was open from 8 a.m, to 8 p.m. Our cabin steward was sweet and attentive, and waiters took note of our preferences soon after embarkation.
The food’s mostly delicious, and you’ll marvel at how well managed the service is, especially considering that there are apt to be 3,400 passengers aboard. The dining room service is hilarious during dessert, when waiters do foolish dances while balancing trays on their heads. It may list as 2642 passengers, but that is just counting beds on the floor. The maximum capacity is 3360 people, and when the ship is full a lot of those will be kids in rollaway and bunk beds. Don’t be surprised to find yourself in long lines at the shore excursion desk or the luncheon buffet.
The bathrooms are nice and roomy, with shower, hair dryer and a basket of complimentary toiletries. Oceanview staterooms and suites offer a minibar and bathrobes. The ship’s 48 suites and penthouse suites’ bathrooms and decor were upgraded in 2005. Our video arcade boasts a huge array of games, and is open to players of all ages, all night and all day. So get some tokens from the vending machine and let the fun times begin.
The décor was a bizarre collection of zebra-skin prints on sofas and bar stools and murals celebrating heroics of ancient Olympia. In all, it struck us as a small and strange venue to watch sports. A cold pasta station featured bowtie pasta with curry and relish one day, vermicelli with Asian dressing the next. The sandwich station had a decent deli selection, and a grill for panini style sandwiches. The hot section alternated with a different theme daily; Caribbean day featured such fare as Jamaican chicken curry, roast pork loin, seafood fritters, island beef stew. Italian, French and American fare also got their due, and there was a carving station with pork or beef each day.
Or are you looking to check in every now and then — have a look at your email, check the news and send a note home? Stop in to your ship’s Internet Café, sit down at a computer and enjoy the kinda-connected life. Vacation purist looking to get away from all the news feeds and trending whatevers? We dig your style — a Carnival cruise remains the disconnectedest kind of vacation.
